A SUBMARINE-TIKI SOIRÉE BELOW THE SURFACE
Cinereal Productions partnered with FeverUp to conceptualize, design, and produce The Acey Deucey Club, an immersive tiki bar pop-up that ran through 2022. This production was designed to be modular and first anchored at the Horton Grand in San Diego and later docking at Lot 613 in Los Angeles.
Guests plunged into the depths aboard the USS Clusterwink, a fictional 1940s submarine brought vividly to life. Porthole video walls, steel pipes, netting, and flickering lanterns bathed in moody, underwater lighting completely transformed the space into a thrilling deep-sea adventure.
The 90‑minute voyage blended tiki cocktails, live jazz, and of course…campy dramatics. The sailor-led three‑piece jazz band fronted by the sultry, yet strict Captain regaled guests with 1940s‑era sets that underscored the retro vibe while driving forward the story. The playful Skipper and crew served a trio of rum‑forward drinks, with a fourth VIP flask option of Captain’s Grog. Audiences were treated to scenes that were truly immersive including mini “interrogations,” secret corridor tours, and curtain-raiser musical numbers.
Cinereal’s narrative and themed entertainment design was inspired by tiki bar legacies such as Tiki Ti and Tonga Hut, honoring classic materials lauhala weaving, thatch roofing, and props from the legendary Oceanic Arts to craft fresh yet nostalgic escapism. The décor leaned into mid‑century Polynesian kitsch, with thatch, woven textures, hanging fish, and vintage naval accoutrements sourced locally to complement the stylized scenic work.
DESIGNED TO TRANSPORT PATRONS INTO A SEAFARING FANTASY FROM THE 1940S, THE ACEY DEUCEY CLUB BECAME A SWINGIN’ SUBAQUATIC TIKI RETREAT, TEEMING WITH MID-CENTURY CHARM, LIVE JAZZ, TIKI CLASSICS, AND PLAYFUL STORYTELLING.
